Get to Know Your Motorbike

Any advice on choosing my first motorcycle please?

I’m looking to get a motorcycle. I’m 17 years old. I will be getting my M1 ontario motorcycle license soon. I’ve been looking to buy either a 2008 Honda Rebel 250 for $3500, the new 2011 Honda CBR250R for $4500, or any Honda Nighthawk (CB250) i could find in good condition and decent mileage (I can’t seem to find ANY for sale from a dealer, only private sellers). I’ll be using it for city driving.

You’ve suggested some fantastic bikes but if you haven’t ridden many motorcycles I’d direct you away form the honda CBR. It’s a powerful bike and you might not like the handling at first. The Honda rebel is a fantastic motorcycle. But it’s more ideally suited for cruising and long trips. You might feel this a hindrance when riding in city traffic. So I guess the most suitable and best motorcycle would be the Honda nighthawk. I not only suggest it because it’s my favorite bike but it’s ideal twin parallel engine and 5-speed transmission offering a top speed of around 130 to 135 kph(81 mph) make it a fantastic motorcycle. Another plus is it’s looks. I’d suggest you fit disc brakes in the front though that may not be too necessary. Hope this helps. Now go burn some rubber! (and cash )
