New Motorcycles For Sale
My son bought a motorcycle and sold it. The creditor took info over the phone for new buyer.?
The creditor said she could take care of all information needed for the sale. A three-way call was initiated and the creditor asked for buyers name, etc. and checking acct, and bank routing numbers. New buyer was approved by creditor over the phone. My son asked specifically if he was relieved of the debt, and was assured by creditor that he was. He then delivered motorcycle to new buyer. A couple of weeks later, he received the RELEASED, ORIGINAL title in the mail. Approx. one month later he received a statement showing he had a balance of $15 that was due for the processing of electronic check for the sale. The next month he received a statement that was charging him for the entire balance of said cycle. Apparently the account of new buyer was fraudulent. Is my son liable for this debt?
Has he spoken to the person who bought the motorcycle or to the creditor? It could have been a fraud or it might have just been a mistake in the paperwork. The only way to find out what happened is to call the place that the bill is coming from and find out what is going on.
